Arturo Romboli ha sido designado como el nuevo Representante del Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (UNICEF) en Ecuador. Con una amplia trayectoria al servicio de los derechos de la niñez y adolescencia, el señor Romboli liderará las acciones de UNICEF en el país durante los próximos años.
El nuevo Representante asumió oficialmente el cargo tras presentar sus cartas credenciales ante la Ministra de Relaciones Exteriores y Movilidad Humana del Ecuador, Gabriela Sommerfeld. Durante esta reunión, reafirmó su compromiso de trabajar con las instituciones nacionales y locales, la sociedad civil, con niños, niñas, adolescentes, jóvenes y el sector privado para lograr que los niños crezcan libres de violencia, con salud, nutrición, agua y educación de calidad, y que se desarrollen en un medioambiente saludable.
De nacionalidad argentina, el señor Romboli cuenta con una destacada experiencia en UNICEF.
Antes de asumir este nuevo cargo, se desempeñó como Representante Adjunto en la República Democrática de Laos desde 2023. También lideró áreas estratégicas en las oficinas de Venezuela (2019-2022) y Siria (2017-2019), donde estuvo a cargo de Planificación, Monitoreo, Evaluación y Alianzas Estratégicas.
El señor Romboli inició su carrera en Naciones Unidas como Oficial de Alianzas de la Sociedad Civil y más adelante formó parte de la Oficina Sede de UNICEF en Nueva York, donde ocupó roles clave en Planificación Estratégica, entre 2014 y 2019. Antes de unirse a UNICEF, fue Gerente de Relaciones Exteriores y Alianzas Estratégicas en la Organización Mundial del Movimiento Scout en Ginebra, Suiza, donde trabajó en la promoción de alianzas globales para el desarrollo de la juventud.
Cuenta con una Maestría en Administración de Negocios por la Universidad de Ginebra, Suiza, además de una Licenciatura y Certificación en Ingeniería Civil por la Universidad Tecnológica Nacional de Mendoza en Argentina y por la Ruhr Universität Bochum de Alemania respectivamente.
El nuevo representante inicia esta nueva etapa con entusiasmo, decidido a trabajar junto a un equipo comprometido para impulsar los derechos de la infancia en Ecuador.
